⌛ How much time does it take to immigrate to Canada?
Depends on the immigration pathway you choose.
It can take from as little as 6 months to a few years.
Canada has over 80 immigration programs, and some of them can get you to Canada faster than the others.
For example, Express Entry is among the fastest ways to move to Canada (takes up to 6 months).
It’s perfect for skilled professionals with high education and work experience.
Don’t worry – you won’t have to make the choice alone.
You can hire an immigration consultancy agency to do it for you.
You’ll get an eligibility assessment done by a registered immigration consultant (RCIC) and a report with the best immigration program for you.
🛬 Do I need a travel visa?
Bahamian citizens only need an eTA – Electronic Travel Authorization.
Electronic Travel Authorization is much easier than getting a visa! You can apply online and it will be electronically attached to your passport. Bahamians with an approved eTA can stay in Canada for up to 90 days. Please note that underage travellers (under 18 years) cannot apply for eTA on their own – a parent should do it for them.
💼 Can a Bahamian citizen work in Canada?
Under most immigration programs and work permit types, yes!
If your plan is temporary work and not long-term life in Canada, we suggest you get a work permit.
It’s always better to have a job offer in advance, even if it’s not required by your program (although in most cases it is).
Citizens of the Bahamas can qualify for the Skilled Workers Program (part of the Express Entry system).
If you get selected, you have a chance to obtain permanent residency in Canada.
Even temporary work permit can be your first step to Canadian PR and even citizenship.
🧑🏿🤝🧑🏼 Is there a Bahamian community in Canada?
Yes! There is even a National Association of Bahamians in Canada.
You can get in touch with them on Facebook and maybe even join them when you arrive to Canada 😉
